USS Odyssey WIP

Post by SKO » Thu Aug 02, 2018 1:13 am

Got a cheap galaxy kit so trying to do the USS Odyssey right before she was destroyed. Have been trying to get the phaser burns right and I think I'm finally happy with them. The port nacelle I painted as burned out since it loses power in the episode.

How did you make the burn marks? Inquiring minds would like to know. Soldering iron? Drilling? Sawing?

Actually I just took a razor blade and twisted it around from the inside and made irregular patterns, making sure it left plenty of twisted and melted looking hull around the burn. Then i painted a bit of flat black around each circle, and then I smashed up a black charcoal pastel and dry brushed that on to really make it look irregular and burnt.

I didn't get the best shot of the secondary hull but I've gone in and brushed some metallic paint on the "exposed bulkhead" in each blast mark to make it stand out a bit more

And she's done! Some pics of the painting process and the finished product. Pretty happy with this for my first attempt at customizing and doing battle damage.

Now I gotta get the starcraft Jem'Hadar bugs to surround her!

Are you going to embed a Jem'Hadar fighter in the neck?
