Did some sanding last night. Then hit it with primer and did some more sanding.

This is disappointing. I might try and cut some of the Space-Energy Field Attraction Sensors from some Refit hulls and graft them on here.

Sand, prime, sand, putty, sand, prime, sand, putty....

Progress is slow, but it's being made. I've got what I think will be one more session of sanding, then I'll be ready for that last coat of primer, then on to the base coat!

This area is much improved over the way it looked previously.

This is prolly one of the hardest areas to sand evenly.

Looks great from just two feet away, dunnit? :)

Next two sets of these secondary hulls, I'm sanding before any construction is done, tho I'll join the two halves before starting any work on them.

:sigh: On to sanding again! :|

Those are some awfully deep trenches on the hull.

Added a couple of detail pieces. On the 1/537 build that Thomas did, he added some detail in an area between the pylons, which was meant to somewhat resemble the equipment seen on the top of Reliant's shuttle bay area. While I love that detal, I decided that it's a bit too "busy" for this build.

Just a touch too busy. I decided "less is more" for this build.

So, I went with a more minimalist look for that "hump" area.

The parts were scavenged from a Moebius Models Battlestar Pegasus kit - the "teeth" in the Gator Head. I cut the starboard side loose, then spent about an hour or so sanding the "back" of the parts to lose as much of that styrene material as possible to make the parts thinner, thus sit more flush on a model. I cut the opposite side out and will sand it down, as well, to make molds to copy for more greeblies at a later date/time.

Then it was time to add one more coat of primer - mostly to cover up the new parts added, plus to cover a couple of areas that I puttied - then on to the base coat!

Base coat is Tamiya rattlecan TS-27 Matt White. I put three coats overall to make sure I covered some of the minor surface imperfections that I gave up trying to get out with sanding and primer.

More to come.

Hhmmmm.....

Update - paint has fallen on the model.

I’ve done more work on other models, as well. It’s a part of why I like to build more than one model at a time so that I can do the painting assembly-line style. While paint dries on those I’ve worked on previously, I can keep going on with the others.
