I am not a professional kitbasher, but I would like to give my 2 cents...

this last configuration is the one I liked most, the wings position seems right, and the general look is very Klingonish. I think the right nacelle also seems more Klingon.

Something that may work would be to cut the tips of the wings and glue them as an extension after the nacelles, not sure if I could explain it right... :(

You did, I get what you're saying. No one seems to be a fan of those pointy things

I think those pointy bits are Ok .

What those wings need is a bit of anhedral and dihedral to liven them up . Think Junkers 87 Stuka "W" wings with those pointy bits angled upwards . Maybe the original warp drives too . The new ones look like overkill .

Keep the head, loose the triangle 'bridge' piece. keep the negvar part for the main hull. Turn the wings foreword again (like the first pic) and trim/reshape them to the bat'leth like shape. That way she'll have outer wing tips and inner wing tips for disruptor mounts!!!

OK now I'm really torn. I liked the first configuration because it was evocative of a bat'leth, like you said. But once mophius pointed out a way to make it look closer to the D-7 I started liking the wings swept back. Decisions decisions

Do what you like, not what others like. If you are a fan of the D7 and want to pay homage to it, reflect that in your design. If you like the bat'leth, make it a point of coming back later to work on a different kitbash or even scratch build to pay homage to the bat'leth.

I suggest you try to keep focussed on the build at hand and follow that paths that speak the most to you - you will have a better kitbashing experience and will look forward to your next foray into the 'bashing way of life!

#1 rule - have fun

#2 rule: You cannot do scratch building wrong.
