my intuition says to go with a proper contest with a prize(s). the stumbling blocks would be lack of prizes and lack of interest. i find it quite surprising not a single regular has posted about this, so i will include it in the newsletter and see what happens.

cool. so we have shiftdel offering two 1/1400 kbop's and loafr with sheets of custom decals. i mean, that's a start right?

i'm losing track of where to post in my own threads. the global announcement with a link to this one and this one in contest discussion both has information worth reading.

anyway, the guys at ugh! models got back to me and have offered a prize. so, that is good news and it adds to the tally we have. i just need confirmation on what ugh! models are actually offering so i can let you guys know.

current prizes (in no particular order)

five custom sheets of decals from meatloafr
two gizmotron 1/1400 klingon bird of prey kits
4 enterprise kits from tesral (more information pending)
one kit from ugh! models (more information pending)

I would like to participate.

I suggest more of an "anything goes" (more participation) for about a 3 month duration where prizes are awarded each month (rolls over if nothing is finished), allowing simpler/quicker builds a "leg-up" against the "works-of-art". The least valuable prize would be awarded first (if the build wins the next month, they get the more valuable prize and forfeit the lesser prize to the runner-up). This would encourage all experience levels and prompt earlier finishes (hopefully reducing the withdrawn/incompletes).

You may also want to reward entries and/or finishes with some sort of privilege (enhance avatar, rank, etc. or special group membership).

I'd like to participate but at the moment most of my time is being spent working on this new kitten.
Plus, I still haven't finished the Spindrift build I started over a year ago; but I need an airbrush booth to do so for the finishing coats. But we've got a lot of medical bills pending so want to get those paid off first.
