Calling all professional kitbashers

Post by el gato » Sun Aug 13, 2017 10:25 pm

Do these spare parts make my ship look Klingon-y?

Thanks to Lakespeed and Griffworks, I have a lot of parts to play with lately. Trying to come up with a couple of unique ships. This is my first serious stab; however I concede I'm not that great at kitbashing. Opinions are WELCOMED. How does this arrangement look?

The nacelles, btw, are meant to go underneath the wings. I just put them there so you can see their placement

Like a Klingon version of the NSEA Protector

so, what parts do we have there,
a sona?
a cardassian,
and a klingon.

the bridge section is very klingon-y hehe.

I think, looking at the second image "Klingon NSEA Protector",
if you remove the stubby grilles on either side of the 'horseshoe',
and affix the klingon nacelles directly laterally to the 'horseshoe', I do wonder how that might look.
--- we'd probably want to mind-map that, not actually hack up the parts until other configurations have been trialed.
"measure a gahzillion times, cut once"

The klingon NSEA Protector looks more klingon
than the first image, which looks like a Ferengi and klingon exchange program.

if the bridge were on the right-hand side of the 1st image,
and the direction of travel was left to right... that looks kinda interesting too.
kinda like a klingon version of the v12 whitewind hehe.

------
if its future-ish klingon,
maybe it's like the future-negh-vahr, and has some uber-disruptor lances and all?
if its a past klingon circa ST:ENT,
they were fond of 'turrets' back then.

how large is it? ie, is it Bird of Prey scaled? or, is it nearly as large as a 23rd C green Klingon Cruiser?
a K'Tinga? what does it look like with a BoP style bridge or those other kinds of klingon bridge/neck struts?

how does it look if you put a 'bridge' for each prong of the horseshoe, out of curiosity?
(Sisters of Duras having a two-headed cruiser hehe).

Koba, they're all 2500 parts with the exception of the two parts that are on top of the largest piece. Those are the side fan pieces on a 1000 Early KBoP. From left to right, that's the bow fork on a Vorcha, the largest piece is the superstructure to the Negh'Var, the winglets of a Son'a and the Vorcha nacelles. Other greebles will be added but these are the main pieces.

I like the first configuration. Cut the wings at the bulge, and turn them downwards a pylons for the nacelles, again cutting to off flush to nacelles.

I like the first configuration too. And I agree with Tesral about cutting off the wing tips and postioning them at a downward sloping angle as nacelle pylons, maybe figure out a way to keep the sharp tips though.
IMO Klingon ships need to have downswept wings for that predatory raptorish look.
By the way, is it just me or does the blue piece look kinda like a bat'leth?

Combined, they sort of do (they're two separate parts). That's one of the reasons why I liked the first configuration and why I hesitate to cut the tips off

Then added pylons under them for the nacelles and keep the wingtips as your weapon installations.

Crude illustration.

Looks nice, kinda like an ancient klingon bat'leth
