AMT Klingon Cruiser

Post by IceGiant » Sat Jul 01, 2017 10:45 pm

Finally decided to get off my ass and finally build a kit. Picked the Klingon ship because of the very little decaling required. Going to use rattle cans and hand brushing.

be careful when adding the bulb to the boom (do it LAST) it's an extremely weak point

I look forward to your progress, too, as I have this model I have been putting off for a year. I could use some tips. Good luck!

Well I have all the subassemblies together now. And you weren't kidding MeatLoafr, the fit in some places is atrocious!

Now do I prime the subassemblies and paint or assemble the model then prime and paint after I fill some gaps :)

AMT baby. Awfully Made Things.

Anyone that can do a half way decent job on an AMT model can build anything.

LOL. I have the same problem with the ridiculous fit on original enterprise kit from them.

All I can say is you are a better modeler than I! :)

The other day I pulled my K'Tinga out, and tried lining up parts and saw what you were talking about. I became frustrated and put the parts back in the bag.

It's up for trade or sale in the Classifieds, if anyone is interested.

AMT made cars, and incidentally Trek kits. ...curious...

"Aluminum Model Toys, known by the acronym AMT, was a Troy, Michigan-based company that manufactured various pre-assembled plastic promotional models starting in 1948, when attorney West Gallogly, Sr. started it as a side business. "

So no they didn't much care about the SF kits. Pencil necked geeks bought them, not manly grease monkeys in training.
