It may not have been your original reason for making this thread, but you've just declared to make 50 1/2500 TOS ships by September. Can't back down now.

Alas, the animation that goes with this song is not exactly family friendly. :(

Perhaps it the fact that this contest begins on April Fools Day (a fools errand) ...
Perhaps it was too much Romulan Ale...
Or Saurian brandy...
Or I contracted the sickness that resembles intoxication...
Or the disease that ages me rapidly (senility setting in)...
Or a trip to the barrier will fills me with ESP power and god-like madness and invincibility...
Or pon farr...
Or transporter accident...
Or eugenics gave me greater ambition...
Or the numbers were magically speaking to my nerdy side (and favorite scale!!)...
Or the motivation to complete projects...

I do not care that I win anything. I'd feel happy to get things done. Not all kits will be masterpieces -- there will be low-hanging fruit. I currently have kits for about half and collected junk to put together kit bashes. I am also re-watching some of the episodes to get me into the spirit (and do some research). So in this sense, it will be a success regardless. And now that the gauntlet is set, we'll see if an ordinary man can step up and become remarkable.

50 models from TOS?? Were there even 50 ships shown in TOS? We'll check it out. There will likely be some duplicates (with their own variations) plus TOS inspired projects as well.

Today's the day. On your mark. Get set. Go!

It was probably the Aldeberran Whiskey. Who cares if there isn't 50 official ships from TOS. You have options woth all the TOS races. Everyone has scoutships, freighters, warships, civillian liners, etc. plenty of options for creative ships. Plus smaller ships will be a bit easier to fet finished quickly, IMO.

DO IT! You will be a freakin' champion.

Not chess, Mr. Spock. Poker!
The Corbomite Maneuver'
Buoy3.png
Synopsis: I watched this episode last night. The Enterprise first encounters a bizarre spinning cube-like object blocking its path, later emitting radiation requiring it to be destroyed before it kills the crew. Captain Kirk decides to continue further into unexplored space, to be immobilized and threated with destruction from the massive spherical First Federation Flagship, Fesarius. After bluffing about a Corbomite device, a small pilot vessel emerges from the Fesarius to tow the Enterprise to a First Federation planet where the crew will be transported before the Enterprise is to be destroyed. The Enterprise uses all power to resist the tow, which results in apparent damage to the pilot vessel. After overhearing a weak distress call, they transport over to the ship to assist. There they find a small child-like humanoid rather than the intimidating spooky alien figure they thought was the commander of the Fesarius.

Notes: This episode showed both the 1st Pilot Enterprise and the production series version. Other inconsistencies regarding the alien ships, which vary from extremely massive (several miles) to very tiny (roughly the thickness of the Enterprise saucer). The child, Balok, was played by Ron Howard's brother, Clint.

Plans: From conversations within the episode, the First Federation Warning Buoy was just under 11,000 MT and 107m for each edge. The First Federation Pilot Vessel was ~2000 MT and the Fesarius was a mile in diameter. I plan to make the buoy & pilot vessel and if ambitious enough, the Fesarius. These would be made from wood (scrap boards from martial arts breaking and spheres from Michael's). Debating on what feels right regarding size - the conversations or the visuals (making the buoy and pilot vessel much smaller, <50 m).

So sit back and enjoy your traanya and conversations with the enigmatic Balok...

Really? Only a mile? I always thought it was much larger than that.
