When I am posting a pic I would like to include a link to the build thread so if the viewer wants to see more they can follow the link directly is that ok?

found it

I found myself a little confused about these galleries, although I like the idea of "eye candy" overload. So let me express my understanding of the topic.

A member can create a total of up to 4 threads (5 if manufacturer) -- 1 thread in each of:
  • General Member Galleries
    Specialist: Size Comparison Galleries
    Specialist: Fleet Galleries
    Specialist: "Action" Galleries
    Manufacturer Galleries - manufacturer's only
I envision the following: In the "General Member Gallery", post your nice quality single builds (such as MSgtUSAFRet's NSEA Protector). In the "Specialist: Size Comparison Galleries", post your kit comparison builds (such as Revell vs Alliance Models in scaddude's USS Voyager: Completed!). In the "Specialist: Fleet Galleries", post your impressive fleet builds (such as scaddude's Fleet Updates!). In the "Specialist: Action Galleries", post your scenic pics (such as some beauty shots from Shaw's artistic endeavors). In the "Manufacturer Galleries", post your products (such as something from Resin-Modeller's 2500 Voyager 3D Build / Printed / ,,, Teaser). Did I interpret this correctly?

The galleries are described as "Anything Trek" or "Trek Only" - does this exclude builds such as the notable trekriffic's Spindrift from Land of the Giants by Polar Lights)?

The Gallery ID (GID) is composed of name, gallery, subject & post using numbering. Numbering of galleries would be in chronological order, so that XENG1... could be in any of the galleries. Would it be better to use something like GM or GMG to indicate General Member Gallery, SC/SCG for Size Comparision Gallery...? Are you allowed to have more than 1 post per subject? Would this be the case for a 2nd/3rd... build of XXX in YYYY scale? Can you use alternative GID naming like XEN_GM_2500RBOP_P1?

Only that member who created the thread can post to it. All commentary should be put into the "Image Teaser Gallery Chat" and reference the GID.

Should we include gallery & Introductions links into the member info on posts?

Is there some expectation of quality of the post/build -- does it need to be contest-worthy or could simply a weekend build suffice?
I'm a modeler, not a doctor...

In the "Specialist: Size Comparison Galleries", post your kit comparison builds (such as Revell vs Alliance Models in scaddude's USS Voyager: Completed!). In the "Manufacturer Galleries", post your products (such as something from Resin-Modeller's 2500 Voyager 3D Build / Printed / ,,, Teaser). Did I interpret this correctly? i haven't looked at all the links, but reading your format here it sounds right. The exception being that I would have prefered the manufacturer being the one posting pics of their products. that said, not every manufacturer has their products painted and complete, so members could be doing them a favor by posting finished works by them.

The galleries are described as "Anything Trek" or "Trek Only" - does this exclude builds such as the notable trekriffic's Spindrift from Land of the Giants by Polar Lights)? yes. just like only trek on the site. that said, i could always add a misc gallery for pics of all ships and universes.

The Gallery ID (GID) is composed of name, gallery, subject & post using numbering. Numbering of galleries would be in chronological order, so that XENG1... could be in any of the galleries. Would it be better to use something like GM or GMG to indicate General Member Gallery, SC/SCG for Size Comparision Gallery...? you can call this a 'beta' so do what works for you. the important part is referncing the link from the actual post of where the image is located.

Are you allowed to have more than 1 post per subject? currenly, no. but i can always set up a poll about that. again, the idea for the teaser galler is to -not- take away what folks are used to in posting start-to-finish threads in the scales sections. some folks only have the scales category link bookmarks [not even ast], so that would cause a lot of confusion if 'joe' that bookmarked scales suddenly saw the posts drop off off, or never saw the finished product because people were flocking to post in the galleries instead. this is an -experiment- as cross-pollination by making more folks aware and willing to contribute to other areas of the site, without pushing them to do so. hence 'teaser'. curiousity, and all that. :)

Would this be the case for a 2nd/3rd... build of XXX in YYYY scale? Can you use alternative GID naming like XEN_GM_2500RBOP_P1? whatever works for you and makes sense. that is me trying to be smart, when my level of smart perhaps doesn't cut it. ;)

Only that member who created the thread can post to it. All commentary should be put into the "Image Teaser Gallery Chat" and reference the GID and/or the -link- associated with that image post. each post has its own link, which can be copied and pasted to whatever you want..

Should we include gallery & Introductions links into the member info on posts? i will leave that to the thread / gallery owner / original poster. i would advocate that 'more is less' as we have an army of eye candy lurkers. i think mophius as an example has it minimal, whereas, trek has more of the style you mentioned. the big thing is no inter-member chat. lurkers and members alike can enjoy going to a gallery and just scroll down into more eye candy. if they want more, make them aware of where to find said pics for said post.

Is there some expectation of quality of the post/build -- does it need to be contest-worthy or could simply a weekend build suffice? ideally, your best effort. it's meant to tease folks to keep scrolling, to make them want to see more of your work and so on. there is no 'perfect'. 'best of the best' is just a phrase i used because it's common.

as the 'gallery owner' / original poster, you can post as much or as little as you want [within reason]. i would advocate 'less is more' text-wise, as it promotes free-scrolling and clicking of eye-candy, without the chatter.
