A John Eaves design, the USS Nelson;

My take on it:

A nice little escort ship. I enjoyed the quick build but am not happy with the end result. The armor plates are to thick for 1/2500.

poop!

Hey now, thats a nice ship. While I agree with the hull plating thickness that it is a little too thick.
The general feel of the ship is more of the 'fighter' that the Federation needs during the war era.

A little smaller than a Defiant but it looks like a formidable little craft.
It would be good to know the armament and some other details like crew and how many decks.

You going to release it?

neat! I'd be keen to get some of these
for use with the Federation in ST:AW.

in 1:4848 gaming scale, this goes great with that Nemesis era Tempest carrier
and the Holo-ship, it's ~2/3rds the size of the Sovereign class,
with some defiant stylings etc.
perhaps they're used to relocate folks in the Gamma Quadrant?

I like it! If your concern is that the plates are too "tall" for 2500, can you replace them with vinyl pieces? Or, is it possible to sand them down?

I like that idea! They are deployed in twos for maximum security!

I don't know how thick those sheet of plastic you're using for the plating, but have you ever thought of using common paper? It's very thin, and after you cut and glue, you can give it a CA wash to seal and harden the paper.
I use that technique a lot on my scratchbuilds. ;) :D

Vahmp, I have used paper before as well as vinyl. I should have used vinyl for the armor plates.

Mophius, not sure if she's gonna be released till I get her to a point where I am happy with her.

As for the twin pack idea, I was thinking more along the lines of an Advasary pack. I'd pit the Nelson against a Borg Scout Sphere or something else along the same scale of small.

I just hate the idea of de-constructing her to replace the styrene with vinyl. Oh well, throw her to the back of the bench for a later date. She jumped the build queue anyway so servers her right...

I'll consider all the options whenever I get back to her. As it stands now, I've spent too much time at her as it is and not on the other projects that are in the queue for release ahead of her. But I like the Nelson so I will be coming back to fix her rest assured.
