The next addition to the frigate fleet. Endurance class, going to be the USS Hippolyta. Gonna be a minute before I start in on this one....probably.

Every time I build and decal a TMP era ship, I swear it will be my last. ALL those tiny decals, all the time it takes to cut and apply them, UGH. And what do I do? I got and decide to build three friggin' frigates at once! Man, what was i thinking?

Anyway. Had a rare and wonderful free day today, no work, no kid, or older adult care for 8 solid hours. So I sat down to a marathon decal party! Full disclosure, I didn't get as much done as I had hoped, but I ran out of both time and steam. I still managed to get a good bit finished. The Steamrunner decals are 100%, got much more finished on the Akira, and (oh yeah the POINT of this thread) all three frigates have their upper hulls wallpapered. Saratoga and Antiope even have their names! So without further ado, here are a few new pics:

I still have a long haul ahead of me. But it is nice to see a little progress on these. Still have all the bottoms to finish, all 6 warp engines (sob!) and of course the pinstriping and other tiny details. It'll get there. Some day. Hopefully before I die. Oh crap I can't die yet, I have at LEAST 6 more TMP era ships I need to build and decal! I must need a padded room......

Where do you get the TMP era wallpaper decals for the 1:1400 scale?

I scanned the 1/1000 scale decals from my PL model, then scaled them down in photoshop and corel. They're home-printed on a laser printer.

Little more to show, not nearly as much as I hoped to get done this weekend, but such is life....esp when you learn that half your weekend just disappeared in staff meetings you had to attend. :| Oh well, overtime.

Anyway, I did manage to apply the B/C deck stripe for all three frigates, plus the lower aztecing on the Bozeman's hull. Oh, yeah, and Bozeman got her name. Like so....

I had a ROUGH time with the B/C deck stripe on the Bozeman. That decal did not want to lay down over the complex curve. Copious amounts of micro-sol did the trick, but there are micro folds in the decal now that are obvious to my eye. I.....MIGHT remove it and do it in paint. Then again, I might not. Haven't decided at all yet.

Tell ya what, though. These aztecs are just as much of a pain as I remember. So happy I decided to be anal and wallpaper-aztec my entire TMP fleet.....

Funny that when I put mine on I thought I would have problems as well, but it went on so perfectly with the first try. I have had others I've had to fight with to get to fit and had to adjust multiple times before finalizing the artwork. Can be frustrating. I'm going to send you a PM so check your messages. ;)

So, the snail's pace continues.....but mainly because I've only managed to get one day a week to work on models. Ah well, could be worse! Today I've gotten the lower main Aztec on the Knox class Antiope and the Miranda class Saratoga. Much more to go. I'll probably get to sling a few more tonight, but if I can't, I'm happy with this to show for 6 hours of mind-numbing tedium. Heh. Next time I do some TMP era kits, I wont try to do so many at once. Still dreading engine day.

I spent most of this evening fondling the Goodson class model, but I did manage to get a few more decals done on the frigates. Happy to say all the aztecs on the lower hulls of the Saratoga and Antiope are done...and the rear name decals....and even got the rim decals of the Antiope done. And thanks to the kind ministrations of Del over at MVM, I now have a much better B/C deck strip on the Bozeman. About time to get down to the detail decals....pinstriping, personal hatches, and RCS thrusters! All the tiny details that turn an ok model into a very good one.

Real Life has been getting in the way A LOT lately. But I thought I'd share this....I decided I should at least basecoat the Hippolyta and give her her greys on the shuttlebay equipment bays and lower hull before I forget what grey I used for the other three Frigates. Hippolyta is an Endurance class ship, using a Starcrafts Reliant donor model and Shapeways parts for the Endurance conversion (sensor pod, support struts, and underslung KWIL sensors on the warp nacelles).

Working on some tiny decals for the Bozeman tonight!

Starting in on the top details....red pinstriping, rcs thrusters, phasers warning patches, and personnel hatches...

And some shots of the rear end with Del's beautiful landing bay decals...
