1/1400 Revell USS Voyager

Post by Dr_Corsa » Sun Feb 12, 2017 7:37 pm

Hi!

So here is my favorite Star Trek ship, the beautiful Intrepid Class U.S.S. Voyager NCC-74656. The best design. Comfortqably size. Awesome technique! I love this ship!!!

Star Trek catched me with the 2nd season of the adventures of this ship and well, I'm really happy about this Revell/Monogram kit in 1400 scale :D :D :D :D :D .

So, about the ship: standard hand painting with Revell and Humbrol colours. Also decaling with Revell and JT G decals. I post it here, because the ship ist not competely ready. Some decals are still not on the shipshull. But I'm on the way :).

Enjoy,
Michael

The Voyager- that stage in which the production designers took their time and did some homework. I liked her curves.

@DrCorsa
thanks for sharing the Voyager!

I am something of a 'bussard aficionado'; may I request some more eyecandy
close ups of Voyager's bussards (the red part of the nacelle).
I like that glistening effect of the paint that you have achieved with these bussards -
is that tamiya gloss red, or a translucent humbrol, or some other brand of high-gloss paint?

what technique did you use in completing the nacelles?
was it a case of many passes with 'thin glaze', or a drybrushing and daubing with the tissuepaper/towelette?

also, are those borg spheres in the background of the group shot?
those look terrifying! :borg:

Hey,

I have the Voyager since 10 years or more so I can't remember exactly but I'm really sure, it was Humbrol Nr 19 red colour. I use always this colour for bussards: also on my 1400 scale Ent C, D and E, Budapest and Defiants.

On my new models I use also Revell clear red Nr 731: if possible from behind, for example on my Nebula Class or on my resin Akira too. Because 731 coat the parts not so homogenious and it looks like true bussards :).

Nacells: simply painted them with Revell Nr 371, 12, 53 and 374 with a brush. Also red from Humbrol Nr 19. All decals were coated with Revell Nr 1. At this time I worked really carefully and I had no idea about mascs or sth like that...

I can make more pics 4U next time.

In bachround it'a a coffee tree, a gift from my mom.

Greeting,
Micha

While I like the AWACS (with or without the AWACS module) pre-production version Rick Sternbach drew up more, your build is sharp and right on! Love it. It especially looks good with the Big E and the Akira.
