Resurrecting an old build, and finally getting back to it. I finished the painting phase and installed the blue bussard bits. All the rest of the detail will be done via the wallpaper decals. I am doing the multi color panels because....well, it's MY model. ;-)

And YOUR model is looking nice as a result. ;)

Thank you Moongrim! I pulled it back out tonight and gave it a nice coating of future clear sealer to prep for the decals this weekend. I have Saturday plans, but Sunday is going to be a modeling day....woot!

I'm actually quite nervous. I ALWAYS screw up the decals, and this build has a LOT of decals. Wish me luck.....

Then best of luck.

But if I may suggest. Take a moment to calm yourself and breathe deeply to relax before proceeding on every step.
I've found decals to be a challenge as well.

But, patience is indeed a key. As I discovered when I had long red pennant twist and fold. It was one of the only ones I had at the time.
But with a great deal of patience and a lot of dipping into water- I was eventually able to untwist it and get it all flat.

You'll be fine.

The weekends always get away from us, don't they.

Anywhoo....I just returned from Jerry's Artarama with a bag full of goodies and a brain full of crazy ideas for the base to display this kit on. I'll be using a 6x8 plain birchwood canvas, painted black, but most likely with a few more....goodies...on the base to make the model pop. I don't want to say what just yet, until I figure out which half-baked ideas are going to work and which ones need to be tossed.

Among other things, though, I now have a nice selection of good synthetic brushes to apply decals and micro-set with. I am sick and tired of old natural hair brushes leaving little bits of schmutz behind in the finish.

Little tease of what's going to happen with the stand. Don't want to give too much away for that just yet. As for the model itself, turns out I needed another coat of future, so....no decals tonight. Dagnabit.

Ugh, gotta love setbacks. The first coat of paint crazed on the stand, so today the whole thing got sanded back to smooth and recorded with a deep sea blue. Next, the vinyl shop said they have a minimum order of $50 to cut any vinyl.....I'm not paying that. Lol. So, that means the shield and star logo get to be cut by hand....and the text is out. I'm not good enough to hand cut the text in vinyl. Oh well. I'm kind of working on a deadline here, and this bad boy needs to be done in a week! Fingers crossed...

Cut here at the vents when you apply these decals.
