1:1000 Odyssey Class

Post by Gidiot » Tue Mar 12, 2019 7:45 am

So after moving, and Moving jobs sites... (plus a few other delays) I'm finally starting to get some time to SLOWLY work on past and present (and planning of Future) Projects... I've got the Palomino classes (Paul01's going to be producing them as the Dunbar classes if he puts these out grab them... THEY ARE FREAKING AWESOME!), I've got the Goodson Class, but I also got that FDM printer working! Yes, I had some difficulty, and with my partner's business picking up my access to the Form2 printer is heavily hampered (Phrozen Transform is on Order but that'll be NOVEMBER at best), so I picked up a Creality CR-10S Pro... Nice build size 300mm x 300mm x 400mm... but what to build, what to build? I know SPACE DOCK! well eventually I'll do it and replace my chandelier... Well let's do a starship... ok which one? How about the Odyssey Class? it's interesting! and I can do it with different Saucers now too! ok, Let do it!.... SO how big is a 1/1000 scale Odyssey you ask... a mere 1062mm in length, or just under 42" in length... now compared to the Dominion Battleship Paul did in 1/1400 scale that's nothing... but that's HUGE for my first real print on this machine... (well there is one other one for our "March Madness" league.... (I'll add that at the end for fun ;) )

It might be hard to see here... but this thing will be 14.61" wide.....

This last one is at 97%, 173 hours into the print..... And there are 4 more parts of roughly the same build times.... :o :redcussing:
and it's going to be (JUST THIS Piece) 11.91" tall...

Oh that March Madness trophy... (yeah I don't expect to win.... and I'm letting the "Winner" know how I feel, plus it gives support in the middle where it needed it)

Good God man you're insane....and I like it! Oh and just FYI there is a model of the spacedock available for a reasonable price...it's 16" dia and about 24 inches tall. But that may be too small for you, I fully expect you to build a 1/2500 scale 60" dia Spacedock......

Dang, and I was just thinking how huge a 1:1400 Odyssey class would be!

Technically yeah, I will probably epoxy it down because I’m going to have it displayed above the entry way door. And I don’t want it popping off on accident.

Oh here’s a small update on the next part of the body:

Now I’m jealous... the 3D printer only does 4x4x4 ‘ish’ inches (2013 wooden printrbot)

And no way near that quality
