This has been very educational- I never thought about aft phasers before but that location is good for them
When I built my Miranda class USS Saratoga I noticed the same thing so I also added the same phaser bumps using leftover decal material:

I never understood why in the old diagrams and FASA books most ships had no aft armaments, and how lackluster they were if there was any there. They had to many blind spots with no coverage to defend themselves.

They refit the Enterprise-E with many added weapons emplacements because the original design had some bad blind spots in coverage. Since the Nemesis script had extensive combat towards the end the ship needed to be able to handle it.

I was reading about the Lantree in the “Star Trek Shipyards Starfleet Ships 2294-The Future.” The last paragraph on page 61 states, “and two aft phase emitters positioned below the impulse engines”. I know these books are not always correct but I just thought I would share this information with you all.

Neat!
