Enterprise B
Bought this original kit back in 2013 I think, one of the first I built. The kit decals were terrible and yellowed and my paint job was horrible. Finally stripped her down and repainted her with a PNT decal set. Much happier with her now.

Re: Enterprise B
Nice work, how long is the model in 1000?

Re: Enterprise B
Around 19 inches or so. About the same size as the 1/1400 scale Enterprise E. I’ve heard the Round 2 remake of the kit is a lot better (though increasingly expensive and hard to find) but the original AMT kit is frustrating and not super accurate. I did as best I could OOB but if I had the time and resources I’d have bought the upgraded more accurate parts from DLM

I previously missed this.
Very nice job. Did you completely strip all the way down to bare plastic? What process did you use?
Regardless, thanks for sharing.

Re: Enterprise B
I just stripped the decals, masked the parts I didn't want to repaint like the neck and plasma grilles and then sprayed another coat of white. The original base coat was a cheap white primer anyway so it was easy to paint overGriffworks wrote: ↑Fri Sep 14, 2018 1:19 am I previously missed this.

I also missed this post. Nice looking Enterprise-B, they can build into great looking models with a little work. Just so you know the DLM parts are really the same as the kits parts just cast in clear resin for lighting so unless you were planning on lighting the kit I wouldn't bother buying them.

Re: Enterprise B
So, with the original build, did you gloss coat over the white primer before adding decals?

Nope. Probably why they looked so shiny. Have definitely learned a lot since that buildGriffworks wrote: ↑Sun Oct 07, 2018 10:11 pmSo, with the original build, did you gloss coat over the white primer before adding decals?
