1/1400 Spaceboy U.S.S. Defiant and Defiant-A

Post by Dr_Corsa »

Hi aganin!

Thnaks for nice words in my first thread :).

Now I'll show you here some pictures of my two Defiant sister ships fron DS9*. Aprox 3 yers ago I found the site of Spaceboy und asked him if the ships are still available. Additionally I asked if he can make me the decals for NX-74205 & NCC-74250-A. And well he did it :) :) :) :) .

For painting I looked at first many pics of studio model on web. Then I used some Revell and Humbrol colours. And finally glued all resin parts with super glue together. The genuine kit decal sheet is really simple and small so I used Nova hobbies decals too. Also I get an small upgrade on the ship: I used an small etched metal ladder for some valves on a rear top site of each ship. Usually both ships are absolutely identical and the difference is only in name and registry. As a model stand I used an old 1/420 AMT/ERTL Defiant stand with 2 small metal rods.

There are some pics here from the beginning and also in scale with different ships.

*: I hope it's ok to present here 2 items, because they're similary. And abotu NX and NCC A numbers: in the last DS9 season the NX Defiant was destroyed by Dominion. Just 3 episodes later Sisco get the Sau Paulo and this ship was renamed back in Defiant. If it was the same procedure like in ST4, the new Defiand should be an Defiant A and also because this one (Sao Paulo) was an NCC registry ship (=standard/normal ship) it would be logical to givethe NCC number to this ship.

BUT

I think, that at the end of DS9 they had no money animore for new CGI frames, so the studio recycled old material. That's (i think so) the reason, why we can see only the old NX registry. But I don't like this stategy, so I renamed my 2nd ship with NCC A number.

I see right now that the pic quality is well..sorry..but next days/weeks I'll make some new pictures also from the untersite of the ships too.

Engoy!

Hi!

Here are some more pics with a better mobile cam. I hope, you can see some grids on the upper aft section behind the bridge: some plasma valves.

Greeting,
Michael

So,

one year ago or so I have asked the Spaceboy for 3 other Defiants. He is no longer in business, but his friend is selling them now. So that was awesome and I got them.

At least totally 18 Defiants were in the Fleet at the End of Picard season 3. So I can sure habe 6. Can I? Yes I can :D .

However thats are 14 piease kits and the first layer of the basic hull color is already applied.

@Xen: could you please transfer this topic into the 1400 scale sub forum?

Good luck! I wonder how fast you can get the build time down to with so many opportunities to practice!
