1/2500 Excelsior-B class INCOMPLETE

Post by Bentzin » Tue Feb 25, 2014 12:56 am

For my entry, I'm putting together an "Exclesior-B" Class ship. I'm calling it that, as it isn't the Normal Excelsior class, but the one from Generations. I'm not, however, making the Enterprise 1701-B, so I slammed the two names to get Excelsior-B. Backstory will be forthcoming, I'm still brewing it in my head as I prep to build...

So far so good...
Kit is out of the box, parts washed, De-sprued and trimmed.
Next up, sanding down the rather mountainous panel lines.

Oh, yeah. this was the kit where you had to snap the nacelle together around the pylon for assembly, wasn't it?

Good job so far. Love the display of the box art!

Indeed it is. Came as a bit of a shock to me... I understand the logic of the idea, but the execution made for a pair of mis-aligned and difficult-to-impossible-to-align nacelles. So, 'snip!' and off the posts go. A few careful bends with a pair of needle-nose pliers and a little putty in the nacelle opening appears to have corrected the worst of it, but it'll be a job of work to fill the gap where the nacelle now no longer meets the little platform where it meets the pylon. Oh well, that's for another day, I intend to get the engineering hull assembled, puttied and carefully sanded next.
