Miranda Class (final pics pages 6 and 7)

Post by ulvdemon »

Well, I figured since I went through the trouble of building the 1/537 scale Refit, I have to have the Miranda Class next to it. :) This is the old AMT/Ertl kit so we shall see how this goes.

still deciding if I am going to use the kit supplied decals or go aftermarket. The age of the decals have me concerned.

Cool, project !

Go with after-market decals... JT-graphics make several decals for that kit, there are not cheap but there are amongst the best out there !

Or there is also the aztec decals set by Round 2... But I'm not sure what markings are included in it...

The plan was to use the Aztec decals from Carlos Zangrando on SSM plus the JT Graphics decals since I may go with a different name. has the chance to us JT's decals for my Refit and they were great, definitely would recommend.

With what you did on the refit you'll do great on this one!

Started on the sub-assemblies last night. Going through and trying to decide how best to build and apply the Aztec decals that will cause the least amount of frustration. (Looking at you Refit-A! :? )

Some gaps will need to be dealt with.

Looking good so far. I love Miranda class ships.

It's nice that the older kit has windows molded into it, but why are the saucer edges ridged like that? Are those supposed to be the sensor strips?

Good question. On the refit they're "sensor bands." Don't know if that was a poor attempt to replicate them here (why couldn't they use the same techniques as the refit model) or whether they're something else.

Looks good ulvdemon!

Just wanted to show that I am alive with a small update. Had the chance to add weight to the rear of the nacelles to keep the ship level when displayed. This is the old AMY kit, not the new one with fancy stand!

Slowly coming along. Working out how I am going to paint this build and what name to use for it.

Nice work. And good idea on the weights in the nacelles to counterbalance the saucer.
