Akira Class Cruiser WITHDRAWN
After some thinking, and poking at my stash, I think I'm going to enter my 1/2500 scale Akira class cruiser...now to unbury it from 3 different moves.

Re: Akira Class Cruiser
So, after looking at the model for about a week now trying to think of what I want to do to make it a little different it came to me while I was playing Star Trek Online (STO). I'm going to paint to look like my Akira in the game. Now just to find some time to prep the model for paint. Maybe tonight if it doesn't get to terribly late.

So did some prep work on the Akira, sanded down some rough spots, smoothed out some areas I had to add some filler too. When the humidity drops gonna hit it again with primer to make sure I got everything. Here are a few pictures

Great looking resin model. I only wish they'd come out with one in styrene.

I was happy when PL said they were going to make one..and just as sad then they cancelled it. The Akira is one of my favorite background ships.trekriffic wrote:Great looking resin model. I only wish they'd come out with one in styrene.
The kit is the Jupiter Station kit from Starship Modeler...which from what I can tell is not carried any longer.

Re: Akira Class Cruiser
You are correct. But I think that Odyssey Slipways bought the master and reworked it. I really need to get around to picking one up, when I can find one.
I built my Jupiter Station kit years ago. I also have one of the old Spaceboy Akira kits in my stash.

Re: Akira Class Cruiser
I really hate doing this because I was so close to being done, but I am going to have to withdraw from this contest. I am having to pack up all of my modeling stuff for a move to a new place in 3 weeks, (and I just got my new airbrush to actually paint it). So with work and packing there is just no time to get this done correctly, I will finish it, it will just have to wait til after we get to the new place.
