I had Lego break. Yes break. No worries their excellent customer service has dealt with the issue.

But yea, BREAK!

The little yellow job was more surprising. It isn't under strain at all. At least the gray gear is part of a drive train.

It could be they are trying a cheaper plastic with some products, if the factories are in China Lego may not even know it is happening...
Chinese factories have had a history of substituting spec'd materials for something cheaper, I remember things like Playsckool toys for small children having lead in the paint being used because it was cheaper

i remember as a child two certainties when it came to toys. lego never broke and those bamf trucks from tonka didn't either.

Yes, which makes this weird. Lego replaced them, no question. I dug into the Lego supply and got a replacement for the critical gear. My Mixer is back up and running. My Miifigs can now puke off green 1x1 round plates at will.

Axle mounted stuff always seemed prone to cracking. Was usually those tiny pieces though, not the gears.
