indeed, you can use a 'key-re-mapping emulator"

(I recommend the ones from Google Summer of Code or This Week In Tech) for the driver/keyboard of choice.
8bitguy shows some tutorials on how to use those, particularly for vintage computers and peripherals.
usually, the directional keys on the numpad are great to re-map enter and backspace etc to,
and, if you've got multiple partitions on the same machine, that can be worth getting a separate ATX-memristive board for that in addition to a remapping-per-partition.
(say your machines are used by multilingual folks, just have power then a boot-button per partition)

it can be quicker and more cost effective though,
to just obtain a new wireless keyboard or other keyboard to swap-out.
then, in settings, deactivate the damaged keyboard
(or, if its pc/detachable already, remove and swap)

i have an acer aspire e-17 from 2015. for many practicle reasons remapping is my best option. i tried one program but got this when i thought i was on the verge of success.

the 'selection' part.

if you have direct links to safe, legit programs i can try please post them here.

idiot-proof would be nice. especially in my current state.

Sorry Xen. This is all beyond me. Give me a carburettor or a distributor to rebuild and I am right at home.
I took up mechanics as my paperwork and computer skills are just about average.
There is no dark side of the moon really, matter of fact its all dark.

I always go through PC adviser to find any programmes I need because they're checked out so you don't end up with spam/scans.

They recommend ShapeKeys 3.5

Laptop models vary widely on the ease of service. I've serviced a few. The main deal is go to the manufacture website and download the service manual if you want to do anything like that.

Unless you have a Microsoft Surface, they are glued together and cannot be serviced.
