1/2500 Federation Starbase INCOMPLETE

Post by patrickivan »

This is my TOS/TMP era starbase concept for the AST contest. It’s 1/2500 scale and will be made from two Frisbees, cups, pens, bondo, styrene, water bottles, and lots of paint.

When constructed, I will be using at least one stock 1/2500 scale USS Stargazer for scale purposes only, unless I get some scale models to build with it- time pending. But I'm unsure, and hope that doesn't violate any rules for the entry since the focus is the Starbase.

Enjoy!

Ooooh! I like that. That's gonna look so cool when done! :)
There are Times, Sir, when men of good Conscience cannot blindly follow orders. You acknowledge their sentience, but ignore their personal liberties and freedoms. Order a man to hand over his child to the state? Not while I"m captain.

Thanks. I'm actually reconsidering the orientation of the embarking/ docking stations. Pretty much just so the ships park straight in.

And I may lose the lower frisbee of the station and use a dish to make it flat, similar to the larger Starbases. We'll see. I'm trting to go for a cross between new and old, without making it look old.

Just some sketches- the design is pretty much the same...

not to sway you in any direction but there is a series of books about a station called Vanguard. the first book has a pull out section with pics. that might help you with ideas.

Well- now that you point that out, I recall this cover. Guess my inspiration was part this, part TWK, and part common design style interest.

That's neat. Shame you can't run out and find those old testors Area 51 UFO kits. those saucer halves would be ideal to build up for the dome sections.

Well- I may have to cut the frisbees along the rim a little. I'm not sure I like the thickness. The can of air is just a holder. The verticle section will be shorter and not as fat.
