1/350th Refit Cutaway

Post by Steam235 » Wed Nov 11, 2015 6:53 pm

I'm in the planning / experiment stage of this build and to start things off I thought I should give some credit to some great builds I saw that have inspired this project.

Thomas Militello's USS Exeter.

And

Stuart Forrester's Cutaway Refit.

whoa!
those are great. thanks for sharing these great finds

In the first cutaway, of the Exeter, is the warp core shown to be part of the hangar structure as well?
or, is engineering located lower?

the second cutaway, while well executed and well done,
I wonder if having many panels and sections cutaway looks as nice as fewer sections cut away?
I mean, it's probably almost as much surface area cut away as in the first example cutaway,
though for some reason, I subjectively find many smaller panels cutaway to not 'look as clean'.

Dude, that is an awesome project idea! 8-) Will you be populating her with little crewmen? Because that would icing on the cake.

The warp core is above and in front of the hanger. The warp core is actually behind all the colored panels, the stripe down the neck is right outside the vertical warp core. the engineering room and the horizontal warp plasma is behind the "strong back pattern"

It might also be cool to show the ship interiors by having the Borg dissect it with cutting beams.

I think that such a project would be totally cool. And it's a skill level I don't know if I'd ever be able to match.

I have to admit to no small amount of envy for anyone who has done such. Now, doing up a 1/350 cutaway showing the warp core- would be indeed unique.

Moon, your xcv 330 is tougher than this. This is mostly just cutting Windows to see things like the cargo bay.
