Oh, frakking cool!
(This certainly exemplified reusable kit bashing...ha ha ha.)
And yes, I loved the old FASA Trek combat board game, which this ship looked like it could've spawned many FASA designs. And I would not be surprised if that's exactly how some FASA designs came to be.)

I have one of these! I got it for Christmas in '79, she's been well loved. Nothing works on her anymore, but we've been on many a voyage together. I wonder which box she's packed away in?

I tried to find one of these when they first came out but they were next to impossible to find in stores.
Wasn't there a TOS-E toy which could turn into a Jefferies Destroyer as well?

A good concept with slots on the saucer and secondary hull for various configurations, it would be welcomed in sacred scale on the shapeways store (do you read that Shiftdel)

Re: South Bend’s reconfigurable Enterprise toy (1979?)
I've got two and a half of these I've picked up over the years. I never had one as a kid, tho saw them and wanted one badly. I saved my allowance, tho forgot to account for tax. My dad refused to loan the difference of like $.40 or something pretty low like that, and told me we'd come back when I had done something to earn the money. So, that night, I swept, took out the trash and other stuff, then got up early and picked up the yard, made sure to check the mail, etc... I was soooo excited and Mom was excited for me, so promised me that she was sure to tell Dad when he got home from work. He was pretty happy with my work and my drive, so gave me like a dollar - but refused to go to K-Mart that night.
Or the next night....
We went three or four days later and they were sold out. Mom made Dad drive to Wal-Mart - like maybe half a mile away - and Wal-Mart didn't have any, either. I held on to that money for a month, waiting for K-Mart or Wal-Mart to get them back in-stock.
After that month, I didn't talk to my dad other than to reply with curt "Yes, sir", "No sir" type answers for prolly a month, I was so mad. Mom was mad at Dad, too, as she had tried to talk him into letting me owe him for some chores and jobs that night he wouldn't give that $.40 and I remember them having a fight a night or two after I stopped talking to Dad. He had gotten pretty angry with me one night when I wouldn't laugh at his jokes or stay in the living room to watch TV with them, and told me to stop acting like a baby - I was 12 or 13.
In the end, tho, I obviously made up for not getting one as a kid.

Nice toys! That six engined jobber has has got to be fast! I mean, so it can get away when the other starships start throwing rocks at it's ugly butt!
