Star Trek Orchestral Music
So, we have a thread where we are talking about our favorite music and I brought up that I collect movie soundtracks. In fact, I even have versions of the CD's that do not exist in the US market as they are releases from other countries that have more complete musical scores. I'm told this happens because we don't appreciate music as much in the US, which I think is baloney.
Of course, with time some of these scores have been released more fully and Star Trek has certainly enjoyed that with special releases of the movie scores and even TV shows.
Anyone else a collector of Star Trek's orchestral music? In the meantime, here is something to enjoy...

Thanks TrekM.D.
indeed, it's a "what the?" that, some different versions only appear in different regionalizations.
the up-side is, there's more awesome versions to collect.
I enjoy collecting music, Trek themes and variants especially.
I enjoy "De-StarTrek"/ Trekkin-zein D.E. style trek renditions moreso,
though there's a lot of awesome variants out there.

Re: Star Trek Orchestral Music
Trek TV music could have been so much more had Rick Berman not just treated it like wallpaper.
Why on Earth they told Ron Jones not to quote the Goldsmith theme in the score after the first season of TNG is beyond me.

Re: Star Trek Orchestral Music
I always wondered why the theme was never used within episodes. I had not heard the composers were told not to! That makes no sense.
By the way, did anyone get to attend the Star Trek Ultimate Voyage concerts? That was really a fantastic show. I don't believe it is still going on.

There's a featurette somewhere on the Blurays about the soundtrack... apparently Berman was afraid that reusing the same music would make the show seem cheap and like they were just using prerecorded tracks and not a live orchestra each week.
Surely the theme and motifs for each character would have been fine though?!

Re: Star Trek Orchestral Music
That is an absurd notion. How can using the theme music for the show in the musical scores of an episode cheapen the show? There is a reason it is a theme score!

Someone wants to show them Doctor Who at the Proms to see how theme music and motifs can be used, sound stunning and individualProfArturo wrote: ↑Wed Jun 20, 2018 1:08 pmThere's a featurette somewhere on the Blurays about the soundtrack... apparently Berman was afraid that reusing the same music would make the show seem cheap and like they were just using prerecorded tracks and not a live orchestra each week.

Re: Star Trek Orchestral Music
Trek has enjoyed a rich musical history from the classic TOS theme and "That fight music" to the Movie scores Goldsmith has been Star Trek's Williams.
Collect them? As run out and get every version, no. As get at least one of each film, yes.
