Project 148

Post by sando6569 » Tue Mar 12, 2019 4:56 am

Following an idea started by trekmodelermichelle26 , my goal is to do something that I don't think has been done before..find and 3D print a fleet of Starfleet shuttlecraft in a consistent scale of 1/48...

The first one that I've gotten to an almost finished stage is a Type 6.…

excellent!
1:48 puts that close to the Modiphius Minis scale,
so this could be fun for folks that play the tabletop away-missions in Modiphius etc.

(you could then attach a magnetized gimbal point to a various flightstand/ POP knuckle pivot sign,
to 'vector' you shuttlecraft for combat etc).

I've never heard of that game, but the flight stand idea is good, for the smaller ones. The largest Shuttlecraft I have found is the Sovereign class captain's yacht. Scaled up to 1/48 it would be a huge 70cm,even though it would be light it would be more suited for scenery.

Are these coming off your 3D printer as solid pieces or are they hollow?

The small ones are hollow, the larger ones I use a 5-10% infill. All are split to try and minimize supports.
