Looking good. I never used to be a fan of the runabout but since 3D printing a 1:350 scale one and looking at them more in 3D I have fiund them a really cool design.

It is a nicely done bit of work.

Thank you for the kind words.

The model is now fully built, I've masked all the clear parts and I've laid down the base coat.

The model is very much a product of it's time.

We're very lucky now in the quality of sci fi models that are made now. Looking at the bottom of the kit you'll see that there isn't a bottom to the little wing behind the cabin, and where the top hull over hangs the bottom hull, there's just a gap. Neither one is too big of a deal, but I don't think either would happen on a sci fi kit being designed today.

There still is a mistaken idea that SF kits are toys. You don't see it in companies like Round 2, basically run by fans.

Revell's $20 Star Wars snap kits come to mind. I mean it's nice to see them on the shelves at target, and several of them can be made to look good with the right paint, but very toy like.

Masking for the tan parts of the ship and the gold accents for the nacelles.

Thursday was nothing but masking, and masking, and masking. Luckily there is a store five minutes from my house that sells Tamiya masking tape.

The ships main paint job is done. Crazy 12 hours of painting, but we're hoping to wrap up the build by the end of the weekend.
