Years ago I got my hand on some killer glass shelving. My ship are on 1/4" plexi stand with brass rods. Looks great on glass.

You need more than the elevation. (Side views are elevations.)

Scale? Howe big will it be?

Tools: Clear place to work a must. Good light. Pencils, compass, rulers. Exacto knife. It doesn't have to be Exacto brand. I prefer tru edge blades. The #11 is a gift from Ghodd. Sanding stuff. I use pure Simple Green. That stuff will strip paint but does not hurt plastic.

Priming I use a flat black on everything even if the ship will be white. It nicely under shades

If you want a flicker the electric candles at Jo Ann's are an inexpensive option. The flicker is built into the LED. They are clear once removed from the candle housing.

These would be great for the look of the Klingon impulse engines in The Undiscovered Country.
