Re: DIY Dry Transfer Decals?

Near necro-bump! Ian Lawrence — whose 1:350 Refit builds are, IMHO, second to none — did a build with custom dry transfers, and they turned out beautifully: http://www.ianlawrencemodels.com/wipplentcom25.html He used a system called DecalPRO FX: https://decalprofx.com/Vertical/1_MENU/1b_Overview/Ove...

MadMan's lighting questions

Hello gents! It's been a while, and I had to step away from my Reliant build for a few weeks, but I'm getting back into it now, and I've come to realise that I need to start planning out my lighting before I go too far with the build itself. Now, keep in mind: I've never lit a model. I've never prog...

Re: Building a 1:350 Enterprise Refit - I need some advise on clear parts

Another way to diffuse the lighting would be to use some material between the lighting source and the clear part. One effective way that I've seen it done is to use some of those thin, foam-y packing sheets. They are perforated so that they tear out in smaller parts, like paper towels. Because they...

Re: Discovery Enterprise **SPOILER** image heavy

This really makes me angry. It wasn’t enough that everything else that made Trek what it is was thrown out the window, that the Klingons got a really needless re-design, but now they also have to — in a final flip of the middle finger to Trekkies — re-design one of sci-fi’s (indeed, even pop culture...

Re: Bringing back the Wants List

For me, it would have to be:

• 1:537 USS Defiant (DS9, not Constitution-class)
• 1:537 USS Voyager
• 1:537 USS Excelsior*
• 1:537 Klingon BoP (STIII-sized)

*And yes, I'm well aware this would be a f*cking massive kit.

Re: OTB: AMT/R2 1:537 USS Reliant (another one)

Sorry that I haven't been updating this thread (or being active in other ones), chaps ... RL stuff is happening, and taking time away from my build :( All the same, I hope that in the coming couple of weeks, I'll be able to add a new update. So, I'm not MIA, just RL getting in my way ... don't cull ...

Re: Building a 1:350 Enterprise Refit - I need some advise on clear parts

As far as the main deflector, how does one add the "clouded" affect so it doesn't look painted and acts more diffused? I can't really speak to the turboshafts ... but as far as the navigational deflector goes, the simplest way is to lightly sand the backside of it (which is to say, not the side on ...
