Oh, No! Another Enterprise!

For everything Star Trek related, that isn't covered by the other forums.

Oh, No! Another Enterprise!

Postby shiftdel » Mon Jul 31, 2017 12:26 pm

I noticed that the US Navy will name its third Gerald Ford class nuclear carrier as CVN-80 Enterprise. Now Piccard´s Enterprise display will be even more incomplete...

Although Enterprise is a sound and honorable name, someone needs to request the US Navy to stop messing even more the Star Trek chronology, the show owners are already messing it enough.

Not to mention the CV-6 or the CVN-65! I think the Navy wouldn't want to so easily give up one of it's greatest recruitment tool and incentives! Even non-Trek fans proudly state they served on "The Enterprise!" Besides, why would the Navy want to lose out on on profit from the Enterprise merchandise?!

Probably why they are so quick to make sure they have an Enterprise on the registry of active ships!

Here are a couple of pics of the Big E display in the National Naval Aviation Museum, Pensacola NAS, Pensacola, FL.

Several models of the E on display; this one is just the biggest!

Enjoy.

Is that the 1/72 scale model? I have a lot of pictures of that beauty.

Tesral, you nailed it! It is indeed the 1/72 scale model. The CV-6 model in the foyer is also in the same scale and is visibly smaller!

Good eye!

Are you near the Pensacola Museum?

Nice place!!

Nope, Michigan, but I have an internet.

The CV 6 model would be a blast too. I believe it was the only Yorktown class to survive the war.

Yes, it was, it also took part in every carrier battle fought in Pacific on WW2, but Coral Sea. Too bad it could not be saved from scrap.

Proof positive that time travel will never exist: The CV-6 is a real thing. Otherwise, you know Trek geeks from the future would have made sure that it never existed just to make the D's conference room display accurate
