Re: "Make It So" contest roll call
Well, here is the rub....
If I take a regular kit, say an original ST6 Enterprise and use aztec decals on it, is that really an out of the box kit? There are gonna have to be some lines drawn between the two.

hmmmm good question .. the 1/350 refit came with azteks and the 1/1000 did too . dont think they have rereleased the 1/537 refit yet so it may just have them once they do .. but i think decals are an option but not sure of the azteks

Re: "Make It So" contest roll call
If we get enough folks signed up (and more importantly, actually participating), I suspect OOB will allow for -some- modifications, such as custom decals and replacing old or faulty parts with newer ones (no more than the original contents).
The Specialist category is for folks to go crazy with modifications, which is why OOB needs to be judged separately. I doubt any OOB build would stand a chance against some kitbash or scratchbuild.

I guess something like aztecs would be considered more of an application than a modification. IMHO, photo etched or resin replacement parts is where is see the original kit being altered. I'm guessing it's something that will get ironed out as we go.

I'm gonna have to drop out.

Re: "Make It So" contest roll call
About half that started last years contest failed to make the completion deadline. With that in mind, I'd need at least 20 participants to make it competitive and ensure there are enough completed builds to judge. Unless the OOB side gets a serious boost, it's looking like a specialist only contest.

I could go over to OOB. Right now I'm feeling I need a contest deadline to keep me at even a simple project.
