Well, maybe the ship is a slender spine with tractor beam emitters along it to keep a dozen or containers in formation within it's warp field. Something that's little more than a bridge, spine and nacelles.
You could make a cool model with clear acrylic rods holding the containers in place!

Once at a destination, the ship releases the containers and the starbase or whatever takes remote control of the container's RCS to gently guide them to their destinations.

Ohhh- you could also make a bunch of bright yellow Runabout with tractor beams to act as "shepard's" (or tugboats, if you prefer).

Could be a hell of a display for you, Tersal!

That I have no space for. Sadly the Behemoth will likely never be more than this.

The model would be huge. At 1/2500 we are talking 59.6 inches. Almost any material you can think of would be hideously expensive and heavy. Keeping the beast from drooping would be a major effort. I have devoted a lot of skull sweat to the problem.

Gotta say, I like that people transport version- mainly because it has it's own impulse crystal (shield generator).
I like the notion that it might have it's own shield generator to contribute to the defense of the ship hauling it!

I'd like to see a version with a flat bottom- something made to be a colony in a box, which gets a controlled planetfall and becomes the center of town/shelter until those industrial Replicators get cranking.

Yes- but more like the ship's that went down in the DS9 episode where the planet had an artificial dampening field that inhibited technology.
They broke the ship's down completely and made sorta quonson hut buildings....

Something like that, only intentional. A landing ship that's made from prefab parts to be disassembled and reassembled as buildings for colonists, etc.
Maybe the ship is fed into industrial Replicators as raw materials- that makes sense.
That way, the Replicators spit out what's needed specifically for the environment and situation.

Being a TNG colonist inside the Federation would be pretty sweet.

In my long running Star Trek game we have used many varieties of a lander pod. Usually one way as a super fast way of building a ground base. They will tend to have flat bottoms.

Corps of Engineers builds the foundation, pod lands, space hardware is dismounted for reuse, and Bob's your uncle. Anything from housing, that industrial replicator and workshops, or a ready to go vehicle pool. Three or four and you ave the core of a colony.

Well.... All the designs I found/have, not one has a flat bottom.

Here's the 2nd wave of what I have/found...
BTW: They are all TOS and TMP (and also Lost Era I guess)

Last of the collored files/images.
The rest are black and white, and also a few ships/tugs (and a station made of containers).

They did not meet the "Sir-Mix-a-Lot" stamp of approval...
