Last year Star Trek turned 50, so I tried the half-baked idea to do 50 TOS models in 2500 scale to celebrate (didn't quite make it, but still plan to follow through).

So I'll be turning 50 soon (was I conceived during a Star Trek Episode - could explain a lot!) so I need to use up what's left of my mojo (before going to the old folks home) and decided to double down. Essentially, I'll be working through my Round 2/AMT kits OOB, kitbashed, etc.

I'm kicking this off early to get some finished in time to give them to my brother for Christmas (possibly as early as Thanksgiving). He's a fan but not a modeler. It will also give me a good dry-run for when I attempt my "masterpiece" versions.

Go slawton!

But can you count those that you built last year in your new effort? You did build them

I don't intend to "double-dip", but any spill-over (>50) not included in final tally of the previous one is fair game.

If past is prologue, there is good reason to look forward to the eye candy. Check out slawton's previous effort.

Well Hurricane Irma threw in a curveball, but life is returning to normal so hopefully some progress over the upcoming weekend. As I suspect with many of you, I've been more of a model kit "collector" than a model kit "builder" - so I'm trying to change that. Hopefully life has settled down a bit and I can have some "me" time (also the family does not want to hang out with me when I'm watching football - American that is). I have multiples of many these kits, so the first build will be more of a learning experience and will not stifle me with over "analysis is paralysis" keeping me from starting/finishing.

I'd also like to document the build to include ship/model specifications, other reference builds, etc. So I will put a post for each kit, then periodically update that specific post (rather than keep appending to the end of the thread). In this way, it could be used as a starting point for others. Any build threads of these 1/2500 Round 2/AMT kits or other scales you'd like to recommend, just PM me links so I can include them in my posts.

Getting started after a hiatus - as to be expected several of the glues were unusable (completely hardened). I thought I'd get started with something easy. Some of the original bases I intend to use as artwork instead. The duplicate base I'm using additional posts (cut shorter) to make it more of a star shape.

I've gotten a start with the assembly - the older kits have more issues (gaps, seams, holes, inaccuracies, etc.) that need additional work. The newer kits fit better with minor seems corrected with a little sanding. I might try building some without painting to see how they turn out. I hoped the phaser posts from the Lantree-variant Reliant could be used on the top of the saucer for the "All Good Things" Enterprise, but the posts are slanted rather than straight. The saucer-separated engineering hull has a heavy resin piece (from VA Miniatures) that I'm trying to adequately secure to the hull.
