I'm thinking my Ambassador class Kongo. It is past time I finished that one. Lightest of the light blues.

I'd like to test if possible, too. I have an E-C I am building.

Meatloaf, I'll vote but I have the 1/1400 E-C. I kinda like the blue scale as that color scheme, IMHO, is closer to screen accurate.

But having said that, I would prefer the lighter color scheme decals.

I think the color variations on the ships should be understated rather than a slap in the face. But, like every thing else of the forum, it is only my opinion; it doesn't make it right!

So the lighter one it is!

Hope this helps!

Steve

so.. I see 10 votes for people to try - but only 7 saying it:

unless somone else is intrested, I'll choose one of these "people" for a set of their color choosing

I have picked 2 people for the free set of decals - one gets the darker, and one the lighter

Thought I would bump this thread. I happened to be one of the two lucky ones Meatloafr chose.

The Enterprise-C I am building was painted with a base coat of Tamiya AS2 light gray found here: https://www.tamiyausa.com/articles/ln/72/AS-chart.pdf

Meatloafr asked which one I wanted, and I preferred the lighter set, but wasn't sure if it would be too light. SO, he was kind enough to send me a second set, which was darker. Which I greatly appreciate, BTW!

Anyway, here's the update. I attempted to apply the lighter set, but screwed up royally when applying to the saucer. But, it wasn't a total loss because I did discover that if you use Tamiya AS2, that set would be too light on the outer rings, which barely showed (that was part of the problem I think when I was applying, it was hard for me to see).

I will be applying the darker set, when things settle down for me, and will post pics of a (hopefully) successful completion of the model. I happen to be in grad school and work full time, plus that other thing called life, but I hope to get back at it in a week or so.

sorry for the delay, been real busy working full time, with writing a 30 page paper for school, and also getting my car, a 72 chevy nova, painted:

So, as you can see, I was only able to get the saucer ring decals on, and they did not go well! Not the decals fault for sure, the fail is all me! Good thing Meatloafr included extras! When I have free time, I will return to this model, but may be a couple weeks or so.

Oh, and by the way, not Star Trek related but I got my car back today from the paint shop (been there since July).

I've had it since 1987, and it's 1972 Chevy Nova. Well, on second thought, there were Nova Class ships. And novas are in space, soooo maybe there is a connection there? What a nice thing for a veteran like me to get back on Veteran's day!
