Re: Challenger class
I have the Ravenstar Challenger, Freedom, and Springfield, but just can't find the time for the minor corrections to make them more accurate. I'm really hoping to release them next year sometime. This build looks fantastic so far!MEATLOAFr wrote:now tell me... will this be kitted??
or have I set my hopes to high? only to be crushed??

Btw Andyh, did you scratch built the lower part of the "secondary hull" or did you kibashed something ? I was thinking about using a X-wing nose...

Yes and no.dJiPi wrote:

The secondary hull consists of 2 1/2500 scale Ent D upper 2ndry hull halves glued together at the rear. The forward two halves consist of two lower hulls glued together.
I've then used some thick sheet styrene to blend the hull into the rear of the b/c decks along the top and bottom. It has taken a ton of putty to then blend it all together and fill in the sides.
The studio model didn't need as much blending because it retained the thinner saucer and the b/c decks were a lot lower on the stock standard 1/2500 scale saucer.

Re: Challenger class
Thanks heaps It's really growing on me as it is coming together (not one of my favorite designs when I started this).

Re: Challenger class
It's getting closer
The original studio model just had the bottom nacelle plonked straight onto the bottom of the secondary hull (which is why it was so skewed). This won't do for me, so I've made a pylon which will slot almost to its base into a slot cut into the bottom. This will allow it to be mounted straight.
