Klingon D11 Rebuild

Postby Rigel » Sat Dec 09, 2017 11:50 am

Just started rebuilding an old D11 I found in my model stash. The neck was broken in 2 places and the mould detail was very soft. I decided to replace with D7 kit parts where ever possible. These were donated via another old model build. I never really liked some of the features on the original kit so I have made a few mods. It all looks a bit rough at the moment, but it should turn out presentable one it has had a cleanup and a primer coat. But with the weather like it is at the moment in the UK this could be sometime away.

Lookin’ good, thus far. I’ve got one that’s also a WIP. Construction and base coat are complete. I just need to get to the detail painting.

Oh yea, the one wing. Interesting design.

If you’re interested on another take, heres my D-11 thread. I plan to purchase another D-11 and build it to have TMP Era external features.

Excellent work on your scratchbuild! He’s lookin’ great!

Here’s how I solved that lower pod thing on my 1/1000 build. I added some pieces from a set of WAVE Option System parts to act as impulse engines.

I also thickened up the hangar / weapons pod thing on the ventral surface. It just seemed too thin, if only for my tastes.

Got an update on your work here? Curious to see what else you’ve come up with for your rebuild.
