I haven't checked into this forum in a while. I've officially expanded the fleet. And I've branched out to kitbashing and pseudo-scratchbuilding. I'm in the process of converting leftover parts into a Larson and I've modified another batch of broken and leftover parts into a brand new design that I really like..
pics of a Shapeways Remora (upgraded to two engines), the Larson hatchling, and an as yet un-named early TOS era kitbash of my own design, blending the secondary hul into the saucer bottom and adding pylons sort of like the Miranda for the warp nacelles.
Designing decals (and getting a new printer) is my next phase of model building education.
And as usual, my thumbnails are inverted.. how do you fix that?

All fine looking ships. Even if I have to turn the monitor over to view them.

I'm curious- how and what did you do to kitbash the Remora's hull?

The Remora is 3d printed. Only changes to it are new engines and bridge decks from a broken 1701A.

Remoraz was one of those designs that made me twitch. A "destroyer" bigger than a cruiser, with one nacelle.

Well you fixed that part.

I always loved the looks, but I had that same twitch. I saw an updated Fasa spec sheet on it somewhere that mentioned a few had been upgraded with another warp nacelle and more power, more shields, more weapons, etc.
wait a minute... I might have a PDF of it somewhere...
Nope.l must not have saved it. Found an Anton and a Baker fact sheet though.

The FASA books can drive a good modeler to drink. They are terrible. The three views don't line up, ship sizes indicated decks a meter high, if you look at the fact they used the refit saucer, yet again. I could go on and on.

On the gripping hand there are a handful of nice looking ships in there. I have my favorites. The Chandly, (Don’t ask me why) the Roluman Winged defender, and some others.

I have seen some wonderful adaptions of the designs by the 3D modelers around this joint.

But the books themselves? An awful effort and largely a waste of ink. Yes, I do own all of then.
