This might be a foolish question, but why not just paint over the chrome?

Not a foolish question at all cubey!

Paint has a hard time sticking to the chrome and in time will flake and chip very baddly. Plus you lose detail by the time you get enough paint on the part to cover completely. Its better to remove it and start with bare plastic. The only time I have painted over chrome is with a transperant type paint. And even then I airbrushed several very light coats to obtain coverage without to much build up.

I use Super clean as well. I have one of these sitting around for a while. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

Personal Issues have been more pressing than I anticipated so I will be dropping out of the contest.
