Thanks!
I can't take all the credit for the backstory. The basic information came from Ships of the Star Fleet Volume 1. The destruction of the Prolaya appears in one sentence on the lead page for the Surya class (basically "The USS Prolaya was destroyed near Beta Aurigae in 2249 by Klingon-allied warships."). I pulled the construction, launch and commission dates from the chart of starships on the following page. Everything else is my own creation.
This was a great learning experience, and I enjoyed the build. I'd do a few things differently the next time I build a vacuform kit, but they no longer scare me. Well . . . . maybe the 41-inch Lunar Models USS Excelsior that's up in the closet does a little, and the Minbari Sharlin Class Cruiser . . . .
