Hello!
I am Benjamin, and after finding myself reading posts and watching videos associated with this forum, I decided I should just join!
I did a fair amount of scale modeling when I was a kid, and Star Trek ships were my favorite. I also painted a 40k army until my focus shifted away from such hobbies in high school. I always wanted to get back to it and finish a model of "Old Ironsides" that I started, but just never found the time.
The last seven years or so have been really tough and had a lot of loss for me, and I just wanted to do something to bring some joy. I resumed work on Old Ironsides and that led me to a hobby store, which led me to get some Star Trek models. As a kid, I always wanted to build this 25th Anniversary USS Enterprise-A kit with lights and sound. The TMP-era Enterprises were always my favorite. I was never able to do the kit, which was a huge letdown. Well, I found one new in the shrink-wrap on Ebay, and I am hoping I can finally fulfill this childhood dream.
Looking at this forum, all I can say is that a lot of the equipment has changed from when I was making models in the '90s. I will have lots of questions, but I suppose they ought to go in the board that matches it most closely and not here.

Welcome! I joined a couple of years ago after years away from the hobby, too. I picked up a lot of tips/tricks on this forum, and you will too! Happy modeling.
