1) I would like to replace the ship markings with more accurate ones (registries, etc.), what is the best solution or paint to remove the current markings on the ship without damaging the plastic?

2) I want to repaint the Blue Deflector as the color on it is fading.

Immersing the model into a bucket filled with a 1:1 solution of Simple Green and water.

Walmart carries this stuff and it will take off enamel and chrome in a few hours:

I've heard Easy-Off works too but never tried it on models.

Do you know what kind of paint they use on those AA toys? If its lacquer that can be tough to remove.

As much as I recommend Simple Green to strip paint, this will kill all the electronics inside. Using a spray bottle solution like Trekriffic suggested may be a better idea.

He didn't say anything about keeping the electronics inside working.

But simple green can also be applied externally...Just soak it into some paper towels and let it hang.

Thank you, I will try that as the purpose is for use externally. The electronics are still working great after all these years.

Also, try 91% rubbing alcohol.
