United Planets Blaster (got picts)

Postby Tesral » Tue Dec 15, 2015 12:27 am

I've always considered Forbidden Planet to be the parent of Star Trek. Star Trek 0 if you will. The resemblance is strongly seen in "The Cage." Right down to Pike's hat.

So the United Planet's blaster pistol, the pre phaser. Bought for Museum Replicas. It is nicely made if very pricy. It does light up and like the original, no sound.

It is on the large and heavy side.

Forbidden Planet's invisible alien monster scarred me when my father showed me the movie long ago. I still think it's one of the scariest monsters in cinema.

I agree with Defiant Client- the invisible monster you couldn't see unless you were shooting at it, and only then when it was walking into a force screen. :?

Put my son on the floor. A child of the eightys. The cast list was too much. As the Romantic lead -- Leslie Nielsen.

The movie had a lot of firsts. First (and last) all Theremin soundtrack. First flying saucer good guys.

Here BTW is Captain Pike's hat. First and last time we see a cover in Starfleet.

So where are the Picts? Scottish/Celts?

wow -
there's so much going on upon the workbench -
a miniature lego japan (the awesome temple or lego-ninja set?),
a couple of starship parts,
and a Hathaway/Stargazer on the desk -

and an AWESOME Forbidden Planet raygun.
that movie was great to see - I had seen Flying High and the Naked Gun series prior to watching Forbidden Planet, so I laughed at the film for a long time, before realising so many folks were "serious" about it. Leslie does a great job in it. those weird shaped doorways, and the premise - they built a machine so powerful,
it could make their imaginations into realities - but, some of their unconscious nightmares ended up being real?
Episode 1 tries with that Naboo Powerplanet to have similar vistas, but that Krell Facility looked so massive,
polydimensional, and with weird background details (it looks like the ideal city at urbino, but as if you were to continue walking towards it, you would be upside down).
Robbie the robot, the sheer size and scale of all the sets, the sound effects, it's got it all. :D
thats fascinating to suggest that link between forbidden planet and trek "The Cage"/"City on the Edge of Tomorrow-City on the Edge of Forever-Yesterday's Enterprise" trilogy.
maybe theres more going on there
I wouldn't mind seeing protectrons alongside Data - protectrons beat the heck out of those 'exo-comp' bots anyday

I digress though - that blaster,
it looks almost to have been machined from 1 piece of material (although I'm sure theres a lot of separate parts; it looks sleek altogether)
it looks great!
does it have that yellow-y white glow too?
(5000 lumen LED in it, muahahaha)
the remastered versions of it, show different raygun effect - more than the squibs on things,
it leaves a particle trail as it 'burns the air' etc,
that raygun was SUPER powerful,
it puts Coronado's (LCS-4d) 'phaser' to shame.

thanks for sharing Tesral
