Nicely done USS Hood

Postby NCC1966 » Fri May 05, 2017 2:07 pm

I found this today in my Facebook and wanted to share with whose didn't have the chance to see it. It's a USS Hood imaginary version that seats somewhat between TOS and Refit.

The first noticeable differences are the recess in the main hull, the extra deck over the saucer and pointy bussards. Looking it from the starboard view and observing with more attention you can notice also the remarking presence of Refit style in the pylons shape and angle as well the shorter neck. Also I liked how the pylons flush with the outside of the nacelles. Finally the "jet style" exhaust in the nacelles gave a great touch! Enjoy!

I am liking the recess in the engineering hull, or rather I assume the build-up of the front. I might cobble together the 1/1000 original and refit kits, but scratchbuild?!?

Looking again must probably it's a buildup. I imagined that he started with the Refit kit hull and added the necessary plastic in the front to create the recess illusion. It's not a 1/1000 but a 1/350 model.

:)

Yan.

That is one impressive model! I'm waiting for the Starship Dynamics blueprints for the ship.

Yeah those nacelles are a giveaway it's from him. Excellent build. That he's able to fit newer design sensibilities but make them look like they're a natural fit in the TOS universe is remarkable. I love the shade of grey that he uses too.

Thanks for sharing. I had not seen this before.

It really does look like an NX refit evolution. To me it's quite distinct in that look.

I'd love to have this model.

Talked to Bill at Wonderfest. He's got a couple of GKers interested in the Hood, so it is likely you'll get your wish
