Hi All
My first post here, what great forum by the way !
I have been trying for ages to get some FASA minis without much look. I saw a post here about a company called Protowarfare which make resin replicas of the original FASA Minis.
However there website seems to be broken as it will not let me place an order via the shopping cart, Does anyone know if it is still in business ?. Or maybe a contact email for them ?
Also been looking at shapeways but I am a bit unsure of the scales of the ships as most of the designers just give measurements and no scales, can some one give me a heads up as to how the sizes represent the scales ?
This designer has this Enterprise but I am not sure what scale it is as I would be looking for them to match the FASA 1:3900 scale if possible

Any help would be great
Thank you

Re: 1:3900 FASA reproductions
This one is about 1/4700. The simpler way to get the right size is to multiply the size in centimeters by 39, (which is a way to simplify the mat, by removing the conversion from centimeters to meters), the size should match the real object size, which is 302 m (it should be 7.74 cm in 1/3900)
Ex: if you have a Klingon K'Tinga (which real size is 214 m), and you have a model with 2.5 cm, multiplying 2.5 x 39, will give 97.5 m, so too small for 1/3900.
The inverse is also possible, if you want to know the needed size in 1/3900 for a given ship, divide the real size in meters by 39 and you will have the size that it should have in centimeters.

Re: 1:3900 FASA reproductions
Ok I understand the maths you have explained thank you, that the Enterprise should be 7.74cm long. At least I can use that formula to look for the models on shapeways now.
Now heres the BUTwhich has me scratching my head a bit
I have a FASA Enterprise (TMP) and I have just measured it and it is 7.1cm long which means they are not true 1:3900 scale but smaller correct ?.
Also have a FASA D7 which measures 5.4cm long which comes out as 210metres which is fairly close to the 214 example you gave
Or is it something to do with the model being the UK games workshop/citadel version and not a US FASA version ?. I would have thought they would have just been direct copies
Just as a matter of intereset is 1:7000 the most popular scale then ?
Thanks Pete

Re: 1:3900 FASA reproductions
1/7k is popular with people who play TNG-era stuff, because the ships there are much larger than a Constitution or the like.
1/3900 (or maybe 1/3788, I forget which is which) is the old FASA standard (the other is the Starline 2400 SFB standard).
I prefer 1/3125 (Starline 2500 SFB standard) myself because the models are big, beautiful, and fun to paint.

Add this multiply that, subtract that other thing and divide the other whatchamacallit!
To much for my head!!
I use ScaleMaster program, for all my scaling needs.
It's really easy to use, just choose what equation you want to do, add the number into it, click the button, and you get your answer.
You can download it here: https://www.starshipmodeler.com/tech/scalemaster.htm

You might also be interested in the Woomers Shipyard line here, currently available in 1:3125, but 1:3788 (FASA) scale in the near future!
