Re: Constitution MkIII & Variants - Alternate Paradigms debut kits

I was kind of indifferent on this design at first, but after reading up on it a bit, I find I like it a lot more. It would have been a cool if a new design like this had been used for the Enterprise A.

Re: Opinions on raised grid lines: sand or leave?

Whoops. Sorry. The cursing smiley was meant to indicate my irritation with the raised panel lines, it was NOT directed at anyone who gave their opinion, which I appreciate. I was not clear, and I didn't mean to come off as a jerk.

Re: Opinions on raised grid lines: sand or leave?

Oh come on guys! :redcussing: Ah well, I guess I kinda knew "sand em all" would be the answer.

The new NX-01 does have recessed lines though. Exaggerated for the scale, but that's still better than raised.

Opinions on raised grid lines: sand or leave?

I'm working my way through the 7-Enterprise boxed set, and eventually I'm going to come to the Ent-B,C and D, which have those prominent raised panel/grid lines. They are clearly overscale, and really ought to have been inscribed, but they're not. The B has an annoying mix of raised and inscribed li...

Yeah. The parts fit on both the 1/1000 TOS Enterprise and the D-7 is not good.

Re: Enterprise refit - first Trek kit in a while

The inboard grills on the Refit in ST:TMP glow purple. The Ent-A in "Undiscovered Country" has a blue glow effect in some scenes, I think. Those are the only examples I'm really sure of without going back at looking at the movies. My personal preference is for a blue effect.

Re: Enterprise refit - first Trek kit in a while

Latest update: Got my order from Starshipmodeler.com. Work continues on the nacelles. Will need to finish gloss coating everything and then start decaling. 20170314_090516.jpg Hey Cosmotiger, what is the part number and manufacturer of that decal set? Do you have a direct web link to it? It is a Mo...

Re: K'T'inga by Ugh Models

When you look closely at the references, you see all the variations and complexities in the K't'inga paint scheme. There's a lot going on there. I'm interested in seeing how this all works!

Re: Enterprise refit - first Trek kit in a while

I farted around with the nacelles a little today. I think I'm loosing my enthusiasm for this build. I still want to build a movie Enterprise in 1/1000, but I'm starting to question whether covering the entire ship with decals is are the best way to replicate the aztec pattern. Obviously, using somet...

Re: Enterprise refit - first Trek kit in a while

I've been using Solvaset quite a bit, but it hadn't occurred to me to poke the bubbles and let it get underneath. I'll give that a try. @trekriffic: ramble all you like, I'm always open to hearing about someone else's approach to the same issues. And using Future before doing decal touchups was new ...
