Re: 50x50=2500, 5 (pic heavy)

Del was right -- those were the Gunstars (2 of them). I've updated the post to give a list of the models (so you won't need to guess). I'm with you and that I'd like to have a "Sacred Scale" SAAB Saratoga , but I'm not holding my breath that it will get made -- I'm assuming a possible scra...

I don't think he produces kits to a particular scale. But given that it is sized at 307m and is just a smidge longer than the Refit E, it looks right for the "Sacred Scale".

Re: 50x50=2500, 5 (pic heavy)

There's a number of other subjects I've started and would like to finish and some newer Shapeways prints. Here's a sampling: NonTrek.jpg I guess I should have given a rundown, starting at top left: 747 with separate shuttle 2 Gunstars 3 Millenium Falcon's underneath (3rd one scaled wrong) Imperial L...

Re: Skyscrapers to starships

Makes sense -- structurally, rockets and skyscrapers have similar problems. They are vertically tall and need to withstand significant gravitational/compressional forces. In space, the linear acceleration would have a similar affect as gravity. However, there's rotational and turning shearing forces...

Re: 1/2700 Imperial Star Destroyer

Here's the Moonbase Alpha kit (newer moonscape with older base parts) and a close-up of the landing pad with old & new Eagles: alpha.jpg As you can see, the old Eagle is out-of-scale with the Launchpad and would be ~60m long at 1/2500 scale. The newer Eagle is ~30m and roughly in-scale with the ...

Re: 1/2700 Imperial Star Destroyer

Thanks Tesral for doing the overlap comparison. My model picture was not precisely placed square overhead, so I think the bottom right is distorted slightly larger. However, it does show that the model is pretty close to the schematic - I don't see the outer ring being moved out 1 or more inches (~4...

Re: USS Aurangzeb (3D print excursion)

Do you just straight-up paint the aztec-ing or do you mask beforehand? If free-hand only, how do you draw straight, clean lines and fix the inevitable mishaps?

Re: 1/2700 Imperial Star Destroyer

I have the kit but have not looked closely at it - here's the rings: IMG_1143[1].jpg The inner one has a diameter of ~6 1/2 inches and the outer ~16 inches (making it ~1km diameter at 1/2500 scale). Here's a schematic image: http://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/lcars/blueprints/dsndv.jpg A quick eyeball o...
