Re: OTB: AMT/R2 1:537 USS Reliant (another one)

THE NACELLES: AFT RCS THRUSTERS — PART 2 So, I’m back with another update. Since I posted the first batch of images, I’ve re-done the new fins four times. Four! The main problem was drilling a 1 mm hole through the thickness of a piece of 2 mm thick styrene sheet ... without having it go diagonal o...

Re: The Orville

Okay, who caught last night’s ep? It was just damned good fun. I’m really digging the chemistry the cast has, and, well, Alara ... let’s just say I’m crushing pretty hard.

Was also great fun to see Robert Picardo again!

Re: In Defense of Weathering Starfleet Vessels

Or a giant space hand (was it washed?!) grabbing your ship by the primary hull.

And now, a fibre optics question

Hey chaps, So I learned this week (the hard/inconvenient way) that CA glue and fibre optics are not best friends, by any stretch of the imagination. Can FO be glued in place with regular model glue (I've got the Revell Contacta stuff), or will I need to pony up for a hot glue gun? Edit/Update Well, ...

Re: In Defense of Weathering Starfleet Vessels

Interesting post! Whilst I'm in the non-weathering camp — except for vessels that can enter atmospheres ( Voyager , shuttlecraft, et cetera ) — I certainly don't subscribe to the idea of THOU SHALT NOT WEATHER THINE STARSHIP, NO MATTER WHAT , and I don't think anyone here does, either. Besides, one ...

Re: OTB: AMT/R2 1:537 USS Reliant (another one)

So, things I've learned this weekend: The acrylic nail monomer will really, really, really mangle your paint job. It will even eat through Tamiya rattle can paint. I used it on the port-side RCS thruster cladding parts after I'd light-blocked them, then sprayed a couple of coats of white. Wow, what ...

Re: FASA D-18F Gull Destroyer

Hahaha I remember this, from one of the Star Trek RPG sourcebooks! At first, I wasn't quite sure if I liked the D7/K'Tinga command module on this or not. My first thought was that the curves of the bulb clashed with the rest of the ship's jagged edges. Now that I've looked at the photos long and har...

Re: OTB: AMT/R2 1:537 USS Reliant (another one)

This is going to be DaBomb! Haha, well, we'll see about that! So far, I've had to re-cut and re-shape new core blocks for both the port and starboard sides three times (I'm in the middle of the third attempt as we speak), because of the hole for the FO not going straight through and poking out of o...
