Re: The Orville Ships & Lengths

Although 1/2500 is my favoured scale (for fleet building at least) in the circumstances I would be quite happy with a 1/1000 kit of the Orville. For me, 1/537 would be too large.

Re: Skyscrapers to starships

I liked the intrigue aspects but the hippy trippy mental teleportation plot issues were a bit too much for me.

Kept hoping it would be given a chance but like Defying Gravity, as you say it was too SciFi for SyFy....

Not sure about the scaling but there is a full set of plans at this site

Useful to know that the newer release of Alpha is in the 1/2500 range

Re: Skyscrapers to starships

Another good one was the USS Ascension from the TV miniseries Ascension. I can't recall the size being stated but it was a multigenerational ship with a crew of 600 on a 100 year trip to Proxima Centauri (sort of). According to the plot it was launched in complete secrecy in the 1960s using tech tha...

Re: 1/2700 Imperial Star Destroyer

Revell are re-issuing the 1/2700 Star Destroyer which might make it easier to find.

Not necessarily cheaper though.

Hannants in the UK list it in stock at £89.99 plus postage

Re: Skyscrapers to starships

Probably the best series to feature ships that follow the skyscraper model is The expanse. The MCN Donnager is a prime example as is the heroes ship, the Roccinante. https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/expanse/images/b/b8/NJA6Gcr.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/852?cb=20170319121442 The Donn...

Re: Lensman

Big fan of the Lensman books although a few years since I read them. In many ways I preferred the earlier books, before the focus switched to Kim Kinnison. The ensemble cast was somehow more accessible. Virgil Samms and Rod Kinnison calling the shots with field agents such as Con Costigan getting in...

Re: The Expanse

Half way through watching season 2 (and have read up to the third novel). Will be keeping an eye out for this kit but it will depend on the price. Some of FFs recent models have been way beyond my price range. ie the Messiah from Deep Impact at $275, the Prometheus at $200 and even the Shield Helica...
