Re: USS Aurangzeb (3D print excursion)

Nacelles have been aztek'ed, and their major elements trimmed out. I'm not quite sure where I'm going to put pennants, but they're going to be pretty short.

Re: 1/2700 Imperial Star Destroyer

Sweet! Got any completed? I want pics!!! I've been hooked on this scale for the past couple of years... partly because Trek has been crap, partly because SW has gotten good again! Unfortunately no. They're all still in their boxes. I'm going to get around to them eventually. We have been getting so...

Re: 1/2700 Imperial Star Destroyer

Sweet! G got anything else in 1:2256? I've built the Lancer, Tartan, Carrick, Strike Cruiser, Dornean Gunships, Correllian gunship and a couple dozen tiny starfighters of all sorts. The Victory Star Destroyer. So Imperial, Venator and Victory, Calamari cruiser and the Nebulon B. And the ships they ...

Re: USS Aurangzeb (3D print excursion)

Do you just straight-up paint the aztec-ing or do you mask beforehand? If free-hand only, how do you draw straight, clean lines and fix the inevitable mishaps? I freehand it. I have several pots of each color, some thinned more than others. For large areas I usually build up a small ridge of thicke...

Re: Skyscrapers to starships

The four engines on that one reminds me of Chow Tai Fook Tianjin a bit. https://www.designboom.com/weblog/images/images_2/lauren/CTF/ctf01.jpg I thought about some of the generational ships we see, particularly typologies of pod assemblies within frameworks a la the Varro ship. Santiago Calatrava's ...

Re: USS Aurangzeb (3D print excursion)

Starting work on secondary hull detail. I removed the registry for now, but these work really well for pennants.

Re: USS Aurangzeb (3D print excursion)

First pass at the registry, with the tiniest Prismacolors I could find. It's a mess. But it's water soluble. And these are great for pretty much everything other puny detail, even though the texture isn't ideal.

Re: 1/2700 Imperial Star Destroyer

On the DS9, the inner ring is 2500. The outer rings are off, much smaller than they should be at 2500. So it is said that the model as a whole is 3300 as an average of the inner and outer ring scales. Of course, that also depends on how big you think DS9 is, since its size was adjusted between its ...

Re: So, Trump. What now?

I don't deny I'm antagonistic, Slawton. Conversations about Trump tend to bring that out in people. The problem is that the discourse was framed as between those who "had their eyes open" and those who were "sucked into a delusional world." The us-vs-the mentality was present fro...
